Il Lavoro Rende Liberi by DamaInNero Il Lavoro Rende Liberi by DamaInNero

The title of this photo is the italian traduction of the infamous “Arbeit Macht Frei” sentence (“Work makes you free”) that stood above the gates of Auschwitz camp. This was indeed the place in the Risiera camp where prisoners were forced to work as shoemakers, tailors and so on for the Nazi occupiers.

Thankfully no. Some people in charge of memorials like these do have a brand and are not afraid to use it.

I have an uncle who was in a camp, working as shoemaker- I don't know which camp.

My father was in the camp in Finland, he was a tailor. Every day he worked on some farm, where she was a sewing machine, and survived thanks to the food that they gave him secretly his clients.
Today is the day of the Great Victory. This is his holiday, I remember him and proud of him.
